The Cowley College women’s basketball team continued its stellar play at home with an 89-81 win over Cloud County Monday night at W.S. Scott Auditorium. The Lady Tigers are now 15-0 at home and have won 19 straight home games dating back to last season.

Monday’s victory, coupled with conference-leading Butler Community College’s loss at Independence, moved the Lady Tigers to within two games of the Lady Grizzlies with three conference games remaining.

Cowley is now 21-6 overall and 12-5 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division, while Cloud County falls to 15-11 overall and 8-9 in the conference.

Cowley’s big three of Kedranea’ Addison, Paige Granstaff, and Brenda Da Silva combined to score 70 points and pull down 19 rebounds in the victory.

“All three were really good for us,” Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. “It’s a nice streak we have here at home. We have got a couple tough home games remaining, so we will need to continue to play well.”

Addison flirted with another triple double on Monday as she finished with 33 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Over the past seven games the 5’8” sophomore is averaging 23.3 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.6 rebounds per game.

“She is making plays and filling up the stat sheet,” Clark said.

Granstaff went 7-of-11 from the floor and finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Da Silva scored 10 of her 18 points in the opening quarter of play as Cowley led 25-20.

The Lady Tigers’ lead grew to 49-38 at the end of the first half and Cowley led by 10 (62-52) after three quarters of play.

Cowley’s lead would grow to 75-60 following a basket by Granstaff with 6:30 left to play, before the Lady T-Birds rallied to pull within 80-73 following a three-pointer by Chase Siedlik with 3:03 remaining.

However, Addison would score the final nine points of the game for the Lady Tigers as they held on for the eight-point win.

Both Addison and Granstaff are averaging 16 points per game on the season, while Da Silva is averaging 12.3 points per game.

Cloud County sophomore Scout Frame led the Lady T-Birds with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Cassidy Haufler added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Cowley will next play at Allen Community College Saturday at 2 p.m. in Iola, KS. The last place Lady Red Devils are 3-22 overall and 1-14 in the Jayhawk East.

“We need to focus on us and take it one game at a time,” Clark said.
