The Special Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the City Administration Center, 317 South Washington, Wellington, Kansas, to consider recommendations for the allocation of funds received from the Local Alcoholic Liquor Tax for the current year.
Groups with alcohol and drug related programs that qualify for funding may submit a written request to the City Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on March 27, 2019. The Advisory Board will review requests at the meeting on March 28, 2019. Recommendations for allocations will then be given to the City Council for consideration and approval.
As per Kansas State Statute, “moneys in the Special Alcohol and Drug Programs Fund shall be expended only for the purchase, establishment, maintenance or expansion of services or programs whose principal purpose is alcoholism and drug abuse prevention and education; alcohol and drug detoxification; intervention in alcohol and drug abuse; or treatment of persons who are alcoholics or drug abusers or are in danger of becoming alcoholics or drug abusers.”
