According to the City of Wellington newsletter, the report of the First Impressions Program was provided at a community town hall meeting on Thursday evening. Nancy Daniels of Kansas State Research and Extension provided the report and led the discussion with over 30 citizens present. The First Impressions Program involves two cities agreeing to exchange visitation teams providing for each city to be seen through the eyes of a first time visitor. Wellington exchanged a visitation team with Park City. Thanks to Chamber Director Kelly Ford for assembling the volunteer visitation team and coordinating details with Ms. Daniels. Page 3 of 3 The report provided some of Wellington’s strengths as seen by several first time visitors form Park City. Areas of concern as seen by the visitors were also noted. A wrap-up comment from the visitation team was to describe Wellington as friendly and active for a small town. An obstacle/challenge identified was that Wellington is a typical older downtown with buildings needing restoration and occupancy. The entire First Impressions report will be included in the agenda packet of the March 19 council meeting. In the next few days, the report with accompanying photos should be posted on the K-State Research and Extension website, which is https://www.ksre.k-state.edu/community/civic-engagement/first-impressions/
