March 11, 2019 9:00 a.m.
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse. Those present were Chairman Jim Newell, Commissioner Steve Warner, and Commissioner John Cooney. Also present was County Clerk Debra Norris. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved minutes of March 4 and 5.
At 9:09 a.m., Chairman Newell left the meeting.
County Treasurer Dannetta Cook provided the amount distributed from the Kansas Star Casino as $146,349.58. Additional departmental updates were provided.
Information Technology Director Joe Buresh provided an updated AS400 purchase contract for review. Discussion included funding availability and uses of the system throughout the County. He also provided updates on the upgraded phone system recently installed, future programs for the system, courthouse security, software update to program at the Sheriff Office and software support from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Planning and Zoning Director Jon Bristor provided the Commission with departmental updates.
Marion Metzinger met with the Commission discussing roads leading into Caldwell City. Road and Bridge Director Melvin Matlock, Superintendent Doug Finch and Director Bristor were also present. Mr. Metzinger was advised the road in question is inside the city limits of Caldwell and the County has no jurisdiction. Director Matlock explains the city’s authority and will reach out to offer assistance.
Director Matlock provided additional departmental updates.
County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates to the Commission.
There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
March 12, 2019 9:00 a.m.
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse. Those present were Vice-Chairman Steve Warner and Commissioner John Cooney. Chairman Jim Newell was absent. Also present was County Clerk Debra Norris. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
E911 Director BJ Tracy discussed legislative updates on subscriber fees with the Commission. County Counselor Jack Potucek was also present. History of the fees and previous legislation was reviewed. Director Tracy will contact representatives concerning the bill.
Maintenance Director Joe Struble and Assistant Director Jimmy Thornton discuss building maintenance with the Commission. Counselor Potucek was also present.
Counselor Potucek provided general reviews and updates to the Commission.
The Commission reviewed and approved mid-month payables for March in the amount of $574,267.71.
The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved current year abatement orders in the amount of $68.04.
