A Wellington resident, working with Big Cheese Pizza, has set up a Go Fund Me page to pay for pizza cards to give to local workers in “essential businesses.”

Ra’Nae L. Pherigo has set up the page. However much money is raised by April 21 will be used to buy the pizza cards, which will be distributed on April 22. Cards will be given to employees at such places as Dillon’s, Walmart, Orschelens, the Wellington Police Dept., Wellington Fire/EMS, Sumner County Family Care Center and the Sumner County Health Dept.

As an InstaCart shopper, I have seen our grocery store employees get yelled at, cussed at, and mistreated for things that are out of their control,” Pherigo said. “I just wanted a way to make a small gesture of thanks and let them know their hard work and dedication is appreciated.

“We all just need something positive and uplifting to focus on and try to remember that this pandemic is us versus a virus, not us versus each other. We have to stick together to make it through this. I will continue to donate my time and effort if that’s what it takes to keep our community’s spirits up.
