CRAWFORD COUNTY — A suspect was arrested and an Amber Alert that had been issued was canceled Tuesday after Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle in the northeast corner of the county on State Line Road about 1.5 miles north of Arcadia.
27-year-old Chelsea Nicole Greenlee was taken into custody following the traffic stop shortly before 11 a.m. of a black 2009 Chevrolet Malibu and eventually released to the Jasper County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office for transport back to Missouri. An Amber Alert had been issued just over an hour earlier following the alleged abduction of Chelsea Greenlee’s daughter, 2-year-old Brexlee Greenlee, from Carthage, Missouri.
Although Chelsea Greenlee had been believed to be armed and to have threatened to harm her daughter, Brexlee was found unharmed. Chelsea Greenlee was cooperative throughout the traffic stop, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and Brexlee was picked up at the scene by a family member.
Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the recovery of Brexlee Greenlee including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Missouri Highway Patrol, Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Carthage Police Department. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to the incident, or other incidents, is urged to contact the Crawford County Sheriff’s office at 620-724-8274.
