Many centuries ago, the three states of Greece ignited the flame of democracy and thrived with it for several centuries. The cause of dissension among the three states is unknown, but it eventually led to fighting each other.
While this was happening, the Mongolian horde seized the opportunity to invade the states. Because the Greeks weren't united and unprepared to fight this enemy, they were conquered, and the flame of democracy extinguished for many centuries.
It is said history repeats itself. I hope not in this instance.
