Cowley College-Sumner Campus fall enrollment lower than normal but should pick up in July
Cowley College-Sumner Campus met with the Wellington City Council on Tuesday, June 15th, at City Hall to give an update on the college.
One of the updates was on the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) drone classes in Wellington from Sept. 13-17. The three-day training course has been getting people to sign-up for the classes but is hoping to get a few more.
EMS classes are also being offered at the Sumner campus.
There are three days of classroom training and one day of outside flight training to prepare people to sit for their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) drone pilot certification exam. Cowley-College partnered with Kansas State Polytechnic for this opportunity.
Enrollment is up for summer classes for all of Cowley College. However, the fall enrollment is lower than normal for this time of year. Campus Operations Officer Janet Grace says enrollment should pick up at the end of July or early August.
Cowley College is planning on having the Fall semester ‘normal’ but is ready to change if COVID numbers dictate changes. Masks are encouraged on campus but are not mandatory.
