Anna McDowell was found Sunday in Sumner County after being declared missing in Oklahoma

An elderly woman who suffers from dementia was declared missing in Wakita, Okla., but was found on Sunday by Sumner County Sheriff deputies. 

Anna McDowell, 63, was declared missing by Grant County (Okla.) after she left her home in the 1300 block of Maple Street at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Grant County was alerted of her whereabouts around 8:30 p.m. when she was found on the side of the road covered in mud. McDowell was found at the Sumner/Harper Count line on Creek Road. 

McDowell got into her silver 1999 Ford Econoline and started driving north. However, the van got stuck due to the recent rainstorms.

Since then, McDowell has been transported to the Sumner County District 1 Hospital in Caldwell. 

McDowell has been treated and released to her family.
