The Crusaders have 13 athletes qualify for the 4A State Meet next Friday, May 28

WELLINGTON, Kansas - On Thursday, May 20, the Wellington track and field team traveled to Andale and dominated the regional meet. The Crusaders were able to have 13 athletes qualify for the 4A State Meet next Friday, May 28, at Wichita State.

Monica Ayers, Lexi Clift, Annalise Cullens, Isabella Cullens, Colin Green, Dylan Dickinson, Sadie Glover, Kenny Fehrman, Kami Reichenberger, Montel Tate, Trace Rusk, Gavin York and Ali Zeka will compete at the meet in Cessna Stadium. 

At the regional meet, sophomore A. Cullens won the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, senior York won the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, then junior Zeka finishing second in the long jump.

Senior Fehrman finished fourth in the shot put, junior Mercedes Glover tied for fourth in the high jump, freshman Ayers finished fourth in the high jump, senior Clift finished fourth in the javelin throw, freshman I. Cullens finishing fourth in the triple jump and Green finished fourth in the pole vault. 

In the girl's events, Andale would win the regional with a final score of 221. Rose Hill came in second with 98. Wellington finished in fifth with 44 points.

The boys would tie for fourth with Augusta with 44 points. Andale won the meet with 167 points and Rose Hill coming in second with 93 points.

The 4A events will begin on Friday, May 28, at 8:00 a.m. in Cessna Stadium at Wichita State University.
