Fehrman representing Wellington at the 48th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl on Saturday, June 26
The 48th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl is Saturday, June 26, in Hutchinson and Wellington's Kenny Fehrman is set to represent the Crusaders.
Fehrman was selected to this year's Shrine Bowl in June and will play for the West. The Wellington defensive lineman was first-team All-League and KFBCA All-State. Fehrman also made the Cowley County Community College Deans Honor Roll.
During his senior year, Fehrman totaled 12 unassisted tackles. 27 assisted tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Fehrman will be the first Wellington player to play in the all-star game since DeAndre Washington in 2018.
"Playing in the Shrine Bowl is a huge honor to not only be considered one of the better football players in the state of Kansas but also a good person," said Fehrman. "The Shriners are doing great things and I’m happy I get to be a part of it and help bring awareness to what they are doing."
Besides being an All-State football player, Fehrman is a state champion. Back in May, the senior earned the 4A gold medal in shot put at the KSHSAA State Championship Tournament at Wichita State. His winning throw came in his last attempt and went 54.250 feet.
After the Kansas Shrine Bowl, Ferhman will continue his football career at NCAA Divison II Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri.
The Lions went 1-0 last season with their only game being a 21-20 victory over Southern Nazarene University. Prior to 2020, the Lions have won three games dating back in 2017.
There will be more than just football at the Kansas Shrine Bowl. Prior to kick-off, Hutchinson will host the Mile Run 5K, Kansas Shrine Bowl Parade, Kansas High School Combine, Youth Cheer Clinic and Jr. All-Star Game. Times and details for those events can be found here.
The Kansas Shrine Bowl kicks off at 7 p.m. at Hutchinson Community College's Gowans Stadium. For more details about Fehrman at the all-star game, follow @GregWilliams28 on Twitter or you watch the game live.
