________. ___ Wellington High School played host to the 4A State Powerlifting competition last Saturday.
________. __ The Wellington girls’ basketball team dominated Scott City earning another trip to Salina to play in the 4A Kansas State Tournament.
The third time proved to be the charm for the Wellington boys’ basketball team as they defeated Mulvane for the first time in three meetings this season to advance to the second round of Sub-State last Wednesday evening.
The Wellington boy’s basketball team lost in the sub-state championship game in Hugoton, KS last Saturday night. The Eagles were the number one team in Kansas in 4A.
The Wellington Lady Crusader basketball squad cruised over Ulysses in the first round of the playoffs for their 20th win of the season. In the first three minutes, it was clear that the Lady Crusaders were the better team as they did what they do and played fast.

For just the third time in WHS school history a Lady Crusader has brought home the Championship from the Kansas State High School Activities Association 4-1A State Wrestling Championships. Senior Aubrey Hunt, who finished last year as the State runner-up, started the tournament by defeating Caydence Carter of Plainville.
After losing at Rose Hill last Tuesday, the Wellington boys basketball players ended their week on a high note with a blowout win at Clearwater last Friday. The effort was led by a huge second quarter from Dusty Bannister.
