TREVOR MARTIN RUSK

Trevor Martin Rusk, 36, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away at his home. Born December 18, 1987, in Wellington, he was the son of Kelly L. Ford and Martin Ray Rusk. He was raised and received his education in Wellington and

Oxford. Following high school graduation, Trevor began working for BNSF Railroad company. He was stationed in Gainesville, Texas for a year before returning to Wellington and being promoted from Conductor to Engineer. Trevor worked for the railroad for ten years. In addition to the railroad, he helped his father on the family farm. In June of 2023, Trevor began his career as a fireman for the Arkansas City Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with friends. He cherished the time he spent with his daughter Leighton. His family includes his daughter Leighton Rae Rusk of Wellington; his mother Kelly Owen and husband, Gary of Warsaw, MO; his father Marty Rusk and wife, Sylvia of Wellington; his siblings, Tyler Rusk, Summer Rusk, and Trace Rusk all of Wellington; his paternal grandmother Darlene McCartney of Wellington; his maternal grandmother Katheryn Ford of Wellington; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Trevor was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Raymond Rusk and his maternal grandfather E.J. Ford. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Wellington Free Will Baptist Church under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment with Firefighter committal honors will follow at Jordan Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the Ark City Assembly of God Church on Tuesday evening, September 3, 2024, from 5 to 7 P.M. A memorial has been established in Trevor’s name for the Ark City Fire Department. Contributions may be made through the funeral home or Panhandle Credit Union.
